Blackberry Essex – Blackberry Torch Information Lab

(August 13, 2010)
The new BlackBerry 9650, (up until recently known as the BlackBerry Tour 2), is officially named the BlackBerry Essex. This new Blackberry is about to hit the streets. The new Blackberry Essex, is pretty much the same model as the Tour but with a few key differences that make the Blackberry Essex experience a better one than the original Tour.
RIM (Research In Motion) has now added WiFi and an optical trackpad which has been a recent addition to all the newer Blackberries. Many critics are saying that these new features should have been included on the original Tour … but sometimes things like this just don’t work out. Now things are working out.
One of the issues was that the original Tour’s design was complete by the time that the new optical trackpad was coming to light. Another key issue was that Verizon was absolutly not wanting WiFi to appear on the Tour – and that was just a few months back.
Well now things have changed and the new Blackberry Essex, also known as the “Blackberry 9650″, is unleashed with WiFi and the trackpad as it’s main upgrades. Some additional minor changes include a green call key icon has been flipped upwards (huh?), and the bottom row of keys is a little shorter. The Blackberry Essex and the Blackberry Tour phones look extremely similar.
Reported differences on the Blackberry Essex:
- Now there is 2 GB of internal memory
- New roaming capabilities
- 3.2 megapixel camera featuring orientation sensor to minimize common photo capture errors
- Track Pad replaces Track Ball
- Wi Fi added
- Faster Processor Speed
